Addleshaw Goddard appoints Director to Life Sciences practice

Leading international law firm Addleshaw Goddard has appointment Gary Howes as Director of Life Sciences.

Gary joins the firm from McDermott Will & Emery, where he established himself as a leading specialist in life sciences, with a focus on patent licences and collaborations, complex contracts, and product portfolio deals, as well as IP and regulatory advisory work. He has advised a diverse range of clients from the public and private sectors.

Gary has been named in the European Counsel Life Science's Industry Report 'Super League for Intellectual Property' and has been 'highly recommended' by Global Counsel for his patent expertise, commercial IP and protection issues. He is consistently recommended in the Legal 500 and Chambers UK, where he is praised for his exceptional ability in commercial agreements and his skill in making complex legal issues accessible to non-specialists.

Gary's appointment is a testament to AG's commitment in strengthening its capabilities in the life sciences sector, and for providing a specialist, full-service offering to all clients. The firm's Life Sciences team now comprises of 30 lawyers across all offices.

The appointment is one of a string of senior IP hires the firm has made in recent months. In September, the firm announced that leading IP litigator Geoff Steward would join AG along with four members of his team at Stobbs. This was followed by the appointment of Joel McDonald earlier this month as Head of Brands, also joining from Stobbs.
