Sufia is an experienced associate that works across Addleshaw Goddard's Safety, Inquiries and Inquests, and Environmental Disputes practice.

Since qualifying in August 2020, Sufia has advised and represented a range of the firm's leading corporate clients on complex safety related compliance and criminal defence matters including regulatory investigations and prosecutions; whistleblower investigations; consumer product and food corrective actions; coroner's inquests and public inquiries.

Sufia has played a significant role in recent years in a number of complex and high-profile public inquiries and investigations relating to digital technology.

Sufia has recently expanded her practice to environmental matters, examples of her experience includes advising a leading project development and construction company on reporting obligations in relation to potential contamination, advising a luxury retailer on obligations under new Deforestation Regulations, routinely providing due diligence support on multi-million pound acquisitions and public listings and advising on complex compliance issues relating to matters such as asbestos; waste disposal; contamination; and permitting.

In 2023 Sufia was recognised as a 'Rising Star' by the Legal 500 and in 2024 as a 'Leading Associate.' Sufia has also gathered significant experience in delivering external presentations, most recently she took part in AG's Sports Risk Summit to talk about the new legal duty on employers to risk assess against sexual harassment in the workplace at the Etihad Stadium.

Sufia recently joined the team as a newly qualified associate following completion of her training at Hogan Lovells International LLP. Sufia has gained experience advising on a range of regulatory issues in relation to health and safety, product labelling and product safety.

Recent experience includes:

  • Advising a major tobacco manufacturer on changes to regulations in the UK and Northern Ireland post- Brexit
  • Advising a social housing company on their legal obligations with regards to health and safety policies and risk assessments
  • Advising a retail bank in relation to COVID-19 queries, specifically with regards to the operation of shared workspaces
  • Assisting in the document review process for a public inquiry
  • Advising a medical and pharmaceutical device company in relation to a public inquest in which they were taking part.
