RPI or CPI: Time to revisit pension increases?
The statutory minimum basis for pension increases changed from RPI to CPI from 1 January 2011, so why re-visit now? Since then the legal position has evolved via a number of court cases, so employers that ruled out an earlier change due to the wording of their scheme rules being unclear may wish to consider whether the legal position has now been clarified.
