Expertise
Priscilla specialises in defending companies and individuals facing criminal and regulatory proceedings brought by Environmental Health, Health and Safety Executive, Fire and Rescue Service, Police, Trading Standards and various local authorities. Priscilla has a particular specialism advising on health and safety, fire safety, food safety and product safety issues. Priscilla's health and safety practice includes advising organisations on Martyn's Law, legislation introduced to improve security at public venues and mitigate the impact of a terrorist attack.
Priscilla's background in criminal defence means she is well equipped to provide clients with strategic insight into key issues from the early stages of a regulatory investigation right through to proceedings in the magistrates' court and Crown Court. She is also experienced representing clients at inquests in the Coroner's Court following workplace fatalities.
Priscilla has also attained particular expertise working on Public Inquiries established to investigate matters of public concern. Priscilla is responsible for the co-ordination of the firm's representation of three bereaved families in the Manchester Arena Public Inquiry as well acting in the Covid-19, Grenfell Tower, Infected Blood Inquiry and Scottish Child Abuse Inquiries.
Priscilla was seconded to a public body where she advised on all aspects of nuclear and conventional health and safety matters. Priscilla was also seconded to the Regulatory team of a leading international clothing, food and homeware retailer. Priscilla gained experience dealing with an array of regulatory and compliance issues, worked closely with key stakeholders and made recommendations to the business.
Priscilla is recommended as a key lawyer in health and safety. She is recognised as a 'Leading Associate' in Legal 500 and is ranked as an 'Associate to watch' in Chambers and Partners.
Priscilla was shortlisted for Rising Star of the Year at the Legal 500 Northern Powerhouse Awards 2023. She was Highly Commended for Legal Professional of the Year at the Manchester Young Talent Awards 2022 and for the Best Contribution by an Individual at the LawWorks Pro Bono Awards 2020.
Recent experience includes:
- co-ordinating and managing the team representing three bereaved families in the Manchester Arena Public Inquiry
- acting on behalf of a corporate Core Participant in the Grenfell Tower Inquiry
- advising a research body following requests for information and material in the Infected Blood Inquiry
- advising a national food wholesaler at inquest and during an HSE investigation following a vehicle collision at a customer site
- representing a galvanising business in relation to an HSE investigation, prosecution and Coroner's inquest
